A gorgeous mid-century creamer and lidded sugar set from Los Artesanos, the celebrated Puerto Rican pottery stemmed from master potter Hal Lasky’s studio in Santurce. Both pieces are wheel-thrown stoneware in a warm, speckled oatmeal-white glaze, banded at the foot with a carved sgraffito border of concentric squares in the exposed clay. The creamer has a pulled spout and looped handle; the sugar bowl keeps its original knobbed lid. Los Artesanos produced hand-designed, hand-carved artware that helped define mid-century modern ceramics on the island, and every piece varies slightly by hand. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The iron speckling and glaze variation are original to the making, not flaws. As always, we pack carefully and securely for safe transit. Features a classic yellow ware body with blue dendritic “seaweed” mocha decoration and white slip banding, inspired by early American folk art pottery. Description: This English earthenware sugar bowl with lid and decorative flower final is beautifully decorated in a purple and blue sponged swirl pattern on a white background. Standing 4 ¾ inches tall, this timeless treasure is perfect for those who admire English pottery and appreciate authentic period aging and early craftsmanship. Sponged Purple & Blue Blended Pattern. Some discoloration/staining under lid and interior (as shown). Some nicks around interior lip of bowl. Light wear to base. ½ glaze scrape on side of exterior footed base. One side appears to have a slight raised seam line from the making which extends down to the footed base. At bottom of footed base, a very slight separation in the glaze (as shown). Please notice lid was decorated more in in an all-over purple color where rim is blue. We strongly believe this is the way it was crafted. Please be sure this is suitable for your taste.
