Amazing green Pereco flower bowl with a matching, removable lily pad-shaped flower frog. It has been carefully scrutinized under excellent lighting. One chip/ bruise (pic two) and a couple of tiny glaze flakes where the bowl bumped into something harder than it is (too small to show up on the camera, but noted for accuracy). One glaze flake/ or tiny chip on the lily pad, near the bottom of pic 11. No other chips, no breaks or repairs noted. Black light tested as well. Condition is USED, as found, so please expect crazing, pinholes, extra bits of clay/blobs, wear marks, silvery pencil-like marks, rust stains, black marks etc… Keep in mind this was hand-painted approximately 100 years ago, so glaze may be uneven in areas. Please note there are various speckles of paint spatter from previous owner(s). Could use a good cleaning. Measures approximately wide, with an opening about 8 1/4wide. Stands about 3 tall. This bowl is unmarked but is identified in the collector’s guide. Sanford’s Guide to Peters & Reed / The Zane Pottery Company. By Martha and Steve Sanford as the #9 bowl in the highly-desirable Pereco Ware finish. This gorgeous arts-and-crafts piece has a deep, matte-green drip glaze that has been applied over red clay to create character and richness in the design. The Mission-style motif is a raised design of eucalyptus or perhaps gumtree leaves, branches and berries encircling the bowl. This bowl is in really excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There is a tiny glaze flake on one of the branches that reveals the red clay beneath. I also found a few tiny glaze pinholes and glaze rubs. Stilt marks are visible on the base along with a couple of miniscule nicks just at the base edge rim. There are light mineral deposits inside from gentle use. This piece most likely dates to the 1920′s. This bowl is almost 9″ wide at the shoulder, 3-1/4″ tall, and 6 wide at the top rim opening.
