Made in the 1970′s, this saw tooth top edge – Leaf Shape Hand Painted Bowl has “Portugal” and “469″ Imprinted on the Bottom and has the signature of “Bonwit Teller” written on the bottom. This piece has an arts-and-crafts motif of stylized leaves and trillium blooms encircling the bowl. The bowl is in excellent condition with only small bits of staining and light scuffing from gentle use. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. The piece is almost 2″ tall, almost 4-1/2″ wide at the shoulder, and 3-1/2 wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2098 and the production year XXVII (1927). This gorgeous glaze is a matte mauve underglaze with a lighter green overspray that has curdled beautifully on the piece. The glaze has some skips and drips but gives great depth to the mold detail and really highlights the floral motif. The bowl is otherwise very clean both inside and out. Check out all 8 photos! There is thinner glaze just inside the top rim with visible glaze skips and misses, and has pooled inside the bottom. The rim itself is slightly rough to the touch. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. The piece is 2-1/4″ tall, almost 4-3/4″ wide at the shoulder, and 3-1/2 wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2131 and the production year XXI (1921).
