Vintage Mexican folk art. Tecomate clay pottery bowl. A tecomate bowl is shaped by hand. Into a gourd form using coils of clay. And the surface was finished by burnishing. The very word tecomate means gourd. The coil striations can be subtly seen. On the exterior, felt and seen on the interior. Hand painted and shaped by hand. Beige background with a neutral. Circular motif of feathered leaves. And flowers, flora and fauna. I photographed this bowl slowly. Working around the motif to capture. The intricacy and perfection in detail. The paint is still vibrant in its neutrality. The glaze still has a wonderful sheen to it. The bottom has a definitive circular. Black ink stamp MADE IN MEXICO. Along with a penciled French number seven. Measures 5 and 1/2 in height. Opening at top is. 3 and 1/2 in diameter. (as seen in photos).
