Weller Ethel Creamware c1915 Vintage Pottery Ethel Flapper Reticulated Bowl. Elegant Weller bowl showcases pierced detailing and stylized linear decoration in soft blue accents, highlighted by round cameo medallions depicting classical female profiles, capturing the spirit of the Art Nouveau era. No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind. Bowl is 4″ tall and 9 1/4″ wide. Weller Pottery was founded in 1872 by Samuel A. Weller in Fultonham, Ohio, initially producing simple utilitarian items such as stoneware jars and crocks. As the company grew, it moved to Zanesville, Ohio, in the 1880s and expanded into decorative art pottery, capitalizing on the popularity of the Arts and Crafts movement. Weller became known for its wide range of pottery lines, with famous patterns each showcasing the company’s artistic evolution. By employing talented designers, Weller Pottery gained recognition for its innovative glazes and artistic designs. Weller Pottery ceased operations in 1948, primarily due to competition from cheaper, mass-produced ceramics and changes in consumer demand. However, its pottery remains highly collectible today because of the variety, beauty, and craftsmanship of its designs. Collectors are drawn to Weller’s diverse range of styles from art nouveau to arts and crafts including hand-decorated floral motifs to rich matte glazes. Vintage Hopi Pot Bowl SIGNED Ethel Youvella 3.5″x7.25″ Native American Pottery. Overall, good condition, no chips/cracks. There is some minor wear/marks – see pictures. The shading on the inside, in the pictures, is shadows, not a darker variation of the color. She was a niece of famous Hopi-Tewa potter Grace Chapella. The bowl is most likely circa 1950′s-1960′s, but I’m not 100% sure. The dimensions are approximate, but very close. A classic shape elegantly formed and a well-painted example by a highly respected Hopi potter. Please review the pictures well and carefully. Signed, on bottom, this Intricately Decorated Ceramic Bowl. It is an Original, Hand-painted piece of fine pottery with Native American geometric designs and symbols, as well as the head (curving beak and eye) of a fierce bird. This piece dates from the mid 20th C. And has some dirt/patina, that we did not clean. There are some rough spots along the rim – see last image. Overall, the piece is in Good to Very Good Vintage condition. Bowl measures 9″ in Diameter and is 3″ Deep. Bowl weighs 2 lbs. Please carefully examine all images for condition.
