Description ——- Rare and unusual… And complete and original… This is a modern, mid century (late 1950s) Lazy Susan set, consisting of a wood & heavy iron wire rod rotating stand, with (6) original, leaf-shaped, pottery bowls with curved indentations on the undersides, which allows them to fit into the wood channel of the stand, to cantilever. This piece belonged to my mother. As a kid, I was tasked with filling the bowls with pretzels and nuts, for parties. The leaf-shaped bowls are clean-lined, mold-formed, and glazed in a glossy grey or a warm white, with a subtle, raised, striped texture inside the bowls, which resembles the veins of a leaf. Please read the condition report in the box above – as there is paint wear to the stand and two bowls have chips on their undersides. Unsigned, but the bowl shape is similar to designs by Eva Zeisel. The black wood and wire stand is just so 50s modern, in the manner of Frederic Weinberg. When not in use it is. A striking, sculptural sideboard or table accessory with an unexpected mid century attitude. The party starts, and it is used as intended, it is fun and practical. It could also be used creatively, like to display jewelry. Since the bowls lift off the stand, cleaning and storage is easy. Please see my other items for more from this estate. Large size – 19 diameter, overall, approximately when all bowls are in the stand. Stand is about 9″ tall to top of ring, by 8″ diameter at the base (6 diameter at turning portion). Each leaf shaped bowl measures about: 7.5″ x 5.5″ x 1.5 approx, overall. Shown on a 42 round table. Weighs about 8 pounds on my scale, before packing.
