Royal Austria Vintage 1910s 8 Hand Painted Grapevine Dessert Bowls. According to the back stamp this set was manufactured from 1899 to 1918 by Oscar and Edgar Gutherz of Altrolau, Bohemia. Pristine antique condition – no signs of use, defects or damages. Hand painted – each bowl/dish have a slightly different shading, but all of the pedestals are painted gorgeous deep malachite color. Dimensions 4 x 3 in. Weight 1 lb 14 oz. Oscar Gutherz started a porcelain decorating business in Altrolau in 1884, using financial backing from the American importer Lazarus Straus & Sons. The company subsequently expanded into porcelain production. In 1898, Oscar’s brother, Edgar Gutherz, bought out Marx and joined Oscar in the business, which became known as the Oscar & Edgar Gutherz O. In 1918 the Royal Austria Factory ceased to be; instead it became part of OEPIAG, the Austrian Porcelain Industry.

The overall quality of the design is quite professional. We chose 4 representative bowls to show the full frontal photo. The rest are just as beautiful and in the same condition. CONDITION: While this set of 9 coupe soup bowls is classified as used, its condition is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. DIMENSIONS: The bowls have a diameter of 7 1/2″ and a height of 1 9/16″. HISTORY/MARKS: A porcelain factory originally named Winter, Lochschmidt & Co. Was located in Elbogen, Bohemia, Austria in 1890. The Persch family already owned a factory in the small town of Hegewald. Running two factories turned out to be fatal following the world financial crisis in 1934 and both were auctioned. This is a gorgeous bowl!! The piece measures just over 11.5″ across at widest, and stands just about 3″ tall, the edges are pierced in the shape of hearts. The piece is hand painted flowers, gold trim and swag with Flow blue base. Please check out the pictures this one is a beauty. Picture 5 at the edge of my finger shows some dark spots in a circle, they feel like small flecks or unglazed pencil tip sized just in that little circle, no other chips or cracks, you can see the ribbons in gold as well as flowers in swag are all hand done also.
