Many thanks for viewing. Robin Welch (1936 – 2019). A handsome, raku fired dish or shallow bowl. The flared rim, elevated on a raw / unglazed and deeply recessed foot. The interior with a pale glaze with partial’crackle’ detailing. The underside with a broad, toffee coloured band. All of the colours, including the black of the unglazed foot, combine to great effect. Unmarked and with no potter’s stamp, but I have been assured by the previous owner that it was acquired directly from Robin Welch. This lovely pot was originally acquired as part of a substantial and high-end collection of studio pottery which had been accumulated between the 1960′s and late 1980′s. It was in extremely good company, with other pieces present by Lucie Rie, John Maltby, Joanna Constantinidis, Marianne de Trey, Walter Keeler, Seth Cardew, Michael Casson and Emmanuel Cooper. Approx 8.5 cms tall. Approx 20.5 cms diameter. Note, the rim edge has a rough and pitted quality, however on close inspection I can confirm it is completely free from damage. All items are packed with care, to a high standard and sent via tracked and signed for courier. Prices reflect size and weight when properly packed to provide adequate protection. This bowl is unmarked but is identified in the collector’s guide. Sanford’s Guide to Peters & Reed / The Zane Pottery Company. By Martha and Steve Sanford as the #9 bowl in the highly-desirable Pereco Ware finish. This gorgeous arts-and-crafts piece has a deep, matte-green drip glaze that has been applied over red clay to create character and richness in the design. The Mission-style motif is a raised design of eucalyptus or perhaps gumtree leaves, branches and berries encircling the bowl. This bowl is in really excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There is a tiny glaze flake on one of the branches that reveals the red clay beneath. I also found a few tiny glaze pinholes and glaze rubs. Stilt marks are visible on the base along with a couple of miniscule nicks just at the base edge rim. There are light mineral deposits inside from gentle use. This piece most likely dates to the 1920′s. This bowl is almost 9″ wide at the shoulder, 3-1/4″ tall, and 6 wide at the top rim opening. It’s relatively clean both inside and out. Check out all 8 photos!
