Beautiful Indian River Blue Merritt Island Pottery bowl with 27 thorns around the outside. Bowl measures approximately 6.5 inches wide. For point of reference, the thorns are between 0.5 and 0.75 inches. Bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. I have not found another bowl like this during my research. For your consideration is this stunning. 3 Color Glaze Bowl. In Excellent Vintage Condition! The only thing that I see with it is a very tiny white speck on the outside towards the rim of the bowl. I do not know what the speck is and I do not want to pick at it to find out if it comes off. Mel Casper has been creating hand-thrown plates, mugs, platters and pitchers from a secret mixture of three clays. The components of his special glazes, including his favorite,”Indian River blue,” also are a mystery. To the best of my measuring abilities, the dimensions are. Diameter of the top of the Bowl: 6 1/2. Height of Bowl: 3. Diameter of the base of the Bowl: 3 1/2. Weight: Roughly 1 pound my body weight scale couldn’t weight it properly.
