A blue ceramic bowl designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand. This elegant piece measures 10 x 7.5 cm (4″ x 3″) and showcases Nylund’s signature design style. The bowl is in excellent vintage condition with only minor surface marks. It is marked as second quality. Gunnar Nylund was born in Paris 1904 with parents who worked as sculptors and designer so he really soon started hos own career as designer for the Danish brand Bing & Grondahl where he worked until 1928. After that he together with Nathalie Krebs established the ceramics workshop Saxbo in Denmark. In 1931, Gunnar Nylund was then asked to start working for Rörstrand in Lidköping, Sweden. He worked there until 1955, most of the time as artistic director. After Gunnar Nylund Carl-Harry Stålhane became the artistic director for Rörstrand. Gunnar Nylund freelanced for Rörstrand for many years after 1955.

A lovely blue bowl designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane at Rörstrand, the bowl is 14 cm (5.6″) in diameter and 7 cm (2,8″) tall. It is in e. Xcellent condition except from some minor cracks below from the production why it is marked as 2nd quality. Carl-Harry Stålhane is one of the top names when it comes to Mid century Scandinavian Ceramics. He was the artistic director of Rörstrand from 1950 until 1973. His sheer and elegant stoneware vases from the 1950s with speckled eggshell-like and harfur glazes in muted shades have received a marked increase in demand in recent years and are often included in international interiors and collection. His artworks are represented at MoMA in New York as well as Victorian and Albert Museum in London.
