VINTAGE SAN ILDEFONSO PUEBLO BLACKWARE POTTERY BOWL BY. ROSE CATA GONZALES (1900 – 1989). Being offered today is a vintage piece of blackware pottery created by Rose Cata Gonzales believed to date to the late 1930′s. The piece in very nice overall condition with no chips or cracks to the body. There are a few flea bites on the surface and mineral residue from the clay. Marked on the base with a strong “Rose” and remnant of a paper label. A relative said that the family had many vacations to the southwest in the early 1950′s. The bowl was wrapped in newspaper that crumbled away like onion skin when I discovered it. I believed that the white mineral salt dust on the surface may be an indication of clay that she used during a certain time period. As The Antique Roadshow says, “don’t clean anything unless you know”. It is a beauty. Rose w as originally from. Ohkay Owingeh (San Juan) Pueblo. In the 1920s, Rose learned first how to make polished blackware. Rose was credited as the innovator of deep carved pottery around 1930 at San Ildefonso. Dimensions: 4.75″ (12mm) width / 3.0″ (7.5mm) height. Item described as accurately as possible. The item “VINTAGE ROSE CATA GONZALES SAN ILDEFONSO PUEBLO BLACKWARE BLACK POTTERY BOWL NR” is in sale since Tuesday, April 30, 2019. TONITA / JUAN ROYBAL BLACKWARE JAR. VERY RARE AND BEAUTIFUL POT. HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE SIGNED TONITA AND JUAN ROYBAL. MEASURES 7″ X 9″. HAVE HAD IT EXAMINED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A PROFESSIONAL EVALUATION FOR FULL DISCLOSURE. THE POT IS CIRCA 1930′S AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WELL. THIS IS A WELL MAINTAINED BLACKWARE JAR. THERE ARE WATER DAMAGE SPOTS ON THE LOWER HALF AND SOME PARTS OF THE NECK. NOT GENERALLY NOTICABLE WHEN DISPLAYING, BUT FOR FULL DISCLOSURE. I HAVE TAKEN EXCELLENT PICTURES WHICH ACTUALLY DEFINE THESE THINGS BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTING MORE THAN YOU WOULD ACTUALLY SEE THEM WHEN HOLDING OR LOOKING AT THE POT. THERE ARE ALSO TWO GREY/WHITE AREAS (PICTURED) ON ONE SIDE AROUND THE SHOULDER WHERE HE DETERMINED IT WAS PROBABLY OVERFIRED AND HAD SOMETHING TOUCHING IT DURING THE FIRING (EXPLANATION I GOT). ALL IS THE NATURE OF A POT FROM THE 1930′S THAT IS REALLY A BEAUTIFUL AND HIGHLY COLLECTION POT. THERE IS ALSO A DOT SIZE TINY CHIP ON THE SIDE OF THE POT. IT IS SIGNED ON THE BOTTOM.. TONITA / JUAN POTTERY IS HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE AND VERY RARE THESE DAYS. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE! PROVENANCE WE HAVE ON THE JAR READS CIRCA 1920′S. INFORMATION FROM KNOWLEDGABLE EBAYER STATES THAT DUAL SIGNATURES ARE ACTUALLY 1930′S, SO I HAVE REFLECTED THE CHANGE IN THE LISTING. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL AND HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE BLACKWARE JAR. PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS FOR ADDITIONAL DETAIL AND CONDITION. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING. Vintage'40s San Ildefonso Blackware Pottery Bowl with Wings Rosalie Aguilar (d)

Vintage’40s San Ildefonso Blackware Pottery Bowl with Wings Rosalie Aguilar (d). Rosalie married into the San Ildefonso pueblo tribe in 1922 at the age of 24. This gorgeous vintage bowl was created, carved and polished by Rosalie. The bowl has a bird and bird wing pattern on each side of the piece. It has the cameo style of carving which was typical at San Ildefonso in the 1930s. It is an unusual design and surprisingly complex. The sharp edge designs are always technically more difficult to create than the rounded ones. The bowl is in good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. There are some very light surface scratches. Measures approx 4″ tall x 6″ wide. It is signed, Rosalie on the bottom in the clay. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. A fantastic and historic signed Blackware carved pottery bowl by famous San Ildefonso Indian Rosalie Aguilar to add to your collection!
