Vintage Bauer Pottery Los Angeles Ringware Ivory 2-quart Batter Bowl

Vintage Bauer Pottery Ringware 2-quart Batter Bowl in Ivory color. 8-1/2″ wide by 4-1/2″ tall (not including handle and spout). Typical sagger marks and heavy glazed Bauer Los Angeles stamp on bottom. Overall condition is excellentthe glaze is shiny and clean, no hairlines, cracks, crazing, flea bites, or repairs. There is a glaze flake on the inside bottom (see photo 5), a few very light utensil marks, and a darker factory glaze line on the rim (see photo 2). With these things pointed out, it’s in remarkably excellent shape. Please see all photos for details. This Art Deco Spanish Revival line was produced in Los Angeles in various bright mix-n-match colors during the 1930′s, 40′s, 50′s and early 60′s, and this Batter Bowl is in a hard to find color. This is an excellent set of six vintage Bauer of Los Angeles ringware nested mixing bowls with the elusive and hard to find 42 size in a great Orange Red color. The set includes #12 yellow, 18 blue, 24 black, 30 orange red, 36 yellow and 42 in orange red. All of the bowls except the 42 have the words BAUER and LOS ANGELES impressed on the base. On some of the bowls the words are under thicker glaze and it is somewhat harder to see. The overall condition of the set is excellent. Assume, though, that you will find the normal minor surface scuffs, glaze misses, glaze pops, light scratches, variations in glaze and signs of general use from pottery of this age. As you can see from the pictures, the set looks really good and probably was not used very much. The largest #12 yellow bowl does a have a larger than average glaze pop right at the base and the #24 black bowl has a few more glaze pops than the other bowls. Vintage Bauer Pottery Mixing Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Bauer pottery inside ring mixing bowl. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This number 9 ringware bowl has a greenish gray glaze. It is approximately 5 7/8 inches tall, and it has a diameter of about 11 1/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 4 pounds 2.7 ounces. This bowl would be a fabulous addition to a collection of vintage California pottery, or it would look great in an early California decor. Identification This vintage Bauer pottery bowl is marked beneath, Bauer 9 Los Angeles. Condition The bowl looks good overall, with no chips or cracks. It has wear scratches from use. There are some scuff marks to the edges. As made, there are some minor flaws, including a few tiny indents, some lighter/darker glazed areas, and some tiny dark specks in the glaze (in the bottom of the bowl). A small area of green glaze and a tiny dot of yellow glaze are as made. Terms of Sale 1. Bauer is probably the most collectible of all California pottery companies. This piece is marked Bauer 9 Los Angeles. It stands 5.5 inches tall. The measurement across the top is 10.75 inches across and the base 4.75 inches across. It is in very nice shape, no chips or cracks, maybe a tiny flea bite or two.
