Hopi Sikyatki Style Shallow Bowl Vintage ca 1900 Sensational

Proudly presented today is this lovely Hopi Sikyatki Style shallow bowl. Measuring 5 and a half inches in diameter and 2 inches tall, it was created around 1900, and depicts a stylized eagle and a bear claw. It also displays a spirit line, the spiritual gap in the framing line that allows the potter’s spirit to escape from the jar when it is complete. It dates from the early stages of the Hopi pottery revival, and was made by a contemporary of Nampeyo. It is of course far to old for a signature, although it was obviously someone well-versed in the Sikyatki Revival Style. The piece shows almost no wear, and has a beautiful patina of age. It is an honor to present such a fine piece to you. This piece would grace any Southwest Pottery collection on earth. As always, Best Regards, Rich. Hopi Pottery, Vintage, Large Traditional Polychrome Sikyatki Revival Design Bowl, Signed Violet Huma. This is a vintage thick wall piece. Is cited in Gregory Schaaf’s 500 artist bio. She was the mother of Anita Polacca. She is a renowned master potter. Her pieces are highly sought after and held in the finest of collections. This piece has nice warm fire clouding. Her pieces are fairly rare, this bowl is an excellent example of her finer work. Very good condition considering the age, as I estimate somewhere around 50 years old. Some minor scuffing as expected for a piece of this age. Please view ALL photos for complete description and condition, nothing is hidden, all sides shown. Salt shaker shown for proportion. The display stand shown is included. Measures approximately 3 1/2 inches at high laying flat, by 9 1/2 inches at it’s widest point. The starting price is what I paid for it in 2015, but I will consider offers. Truly exceptional Sikyatki Revival Piece for the discerning collector.
