This bowl is unmarked but is identified in the collector’s guide. Sanford’s Guide to Peters & Reed / The Zane Pottery Company. By Martha and Steve Sanford as the #9 bowl in the highly-desirable Pereco Ware finish. This gorgeous arts-and-crafts piece has a deep, matte-green drip glaze that has been applied over red clay to create character and richness in the design. The Mission-style motif is a raised design of eucalyptus or perhaps gumtree leaves, branches and berries encircling the bowl. This bowl is in really excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There is a tiny glaze flake on one of the branches that reveals the red clay beneath. I also found a few tiny glaze pinholes and glaze rubs. Stilt marks are visible on the base along with a couple of miniscule nicks just at the base edge rim. There are light mineral deposits inside from gentle use. This piece most likely dates to the 1920′s. This bowl is almost 9″ wide at the shoulder, 3-1/4″ tall, and 6 wide at the top rim opening. It’s relatively clean both inside and out. Check out all 8 photos!
